Organized Dive Trips to the best Dive Destinations in Indonesia

The dive trips alternate between Raja Ampat, the western part of Papua New Guinea, the spice islands of the Moluccas, Komodo, Flores, Bali, Sulawesi and other prime dive destinations. The basic trip lasts about two weeks. With the possibility to book a preamble in Phuket or an epilogue to another destination.
Travel includes intercontinental and intra-Indonesian flights, all transfers by boat or land vehicle, accommodation, full or half board, boat trips or accommodation on a liveaboard, guided dives including night dives and scheduled shore excursions. On request, these trips can also be booked without a flight from Europe for people who want to book long distance flights themselves.
Who is interested in one of these diving trips should know the following: Our groups are small – we don’t like pack diving! The participants of these diving trips want to have great dives, experience adventures under and above water together and have fun. Whether someone is a very experienced diver or rather a beginner does not matter. The professionals can dive as they like. And the beginners are well taken care of. There is no group pressure and everybody lives as he wants. But grumblers on principle are undesirable. If you travel almost to the end of the world, you can’t always insist on the literal sequence of the program. Then you also have to be prepared to improvise. So far Klaus has found a good solution for every unexpected event and convinced every skeptic.

Destinations for our dive trips to Indonesia

Raja Ampat – Dive the heart of the coral triangle

Raja Ampat – the dive site with probably the largest underwater biodiversity in the world. At the eastern end of Indonesia lies this unique area. Big fish lovers as well as macro fans will get their money’s worth in this diver’s paradise. The density of life, the variety of species and the untouched nature of this area are unique. New species are discovered there almost daily. The water temperature is between 27° and 30° Celsius.
During our dive trips in the last years we had encounters with the bizarre Wobbegong sharks on almost every second dive. Also the endemic “Walking Shark” and other sharks we met often. Mantas so close that they didn’t fit completely on the picture of the camera, turtles partly so tame that they swam into the photographer’s lens, huge herds of buffalo head parrotfish, shoals and single specimens of large barracudas, giant perches, huge clouds of jackfish – so densely crowded that the bottom underneath darkened left the divers hardly any time to pay attention to all the small photographic delicacies. There is more than enough of that in Raja Ampat.

Diving in Maumere on Flores

Flores-Maumere 25° to 30° water temperature.
Maumere in the north of the island of Flores offers almost untouched dive sites with a very large selection of big and shoal fish, rare animals, mobulas and manta rays. And also the lovers of small bizarre sea creatures will find many worthwhile objects here. There are very beautiful corals and varied, partly bizarre underwater landscapes. In the nineties we were often after the spice islands still a few days in Maumere for diving. It was always great to dive there. But we could never last longer than a few days because of the then only and more than bad Sao Wisata Resort and the bad food. Fortunately that has now changed. Our new resort is small and cosy and lies directly on the untouched beach. And the food is also fine.

Dive trip to Komodo the home of the giant monitors

The dive areas of the Komodo National Park can be divided into two zones. The northern part with visibility between 20 and 40 meters and temperatures between 27° and 30° Celsius. And the southern part with visibility between 10 and 25 meters and water temperatures between 23° and 27° Celsius. The north of Komodo offers underwater mountains that reach from great depths in the middle of nowhere to the surface. Flat sloping coral reefs in glowing colours. Steep walls and current-rich bottlenecks. Here you can meet all kinds of big fish, huge schools of mackerels, snappers, sweet lips, perches, napoleons, turtles and all the colorful coral fish you can imagine. To name just a few of the best dive sites in the North – the list is only a small part of the dive sites Batu Bolong, Cristall Rock and Castle Rock, Manta Point, Aquarium, Gililawa Darat
The south of Komodo with colder and not so clear water has its special charms. The density of maritime life can hardly be surpassed. The growth of hard and soft corals is overwhelming. Large fish and shoals of all species try to attract the diver’s attention. But the quantity and variety of lower animals, nudibranchs, crabs and shrimps, squids, toadfish and much more always draw the eye of the observer to the bottom. Bali – culture and very varied diving

Bali – water temperature 27 – 29°, rarely colder. You don’t need to write much about the beauty of the Balinese landscape and the culture of this wonderful island. Almost everyone knows it. But Bali offers also dive sites of the finest which also inspire widely travelled divers. In the northeast of Bali lies the village of Ahmed. Near most of the very worth seeing dive sites of Bali. The landscape of Ahmed above water is enchanting. And the dive sites are partly directly accessible from the beach, by car or with small outrigger boats in a short time. The diving offer ranges from wrecks, including the world class wreck of Tulamben, to steep walls, slopes and flat coral landscapes with sharks, barracudas, napoleons, big rays, moray eels of all kinds, schools of fish, critter sites with rare animals to the tiny pygmy seahorses. We live in a cosy, small bungalow complex in Balinese style. We have lunch at the dive center or at the dive site. And in the evening we have a large selection of local restaurants within easy reach.

Banda Archipelago – diving in the Moluccas

Water temperature 27° to 29°, in rare cases also colder. The wealth of the Dutch world power in the Middle Ages was largely based on the yields of this archipelago. Only there did nutmeg grow, which in the past was outweighed by gold. After the spice monopoly was broken, the Banda Islands sank into oblivion and poverty. Today the inhabitants live under very simple conditions. They are lovable people, hospitable and their clocks tick differently than in the hectic western world. Every square meter of the islands, especially on the main island Banda Naira, breathes history. One can visit the old fortifications of the colonial powers and the processing plants of the spices and if desired climb the volcano Gunung Api.
For diving we go daily to different destinations. These change from rock towers rising from the depth over steep walls, slopes, caves to flat sandy soils with huge coral blocks. Gigantic gorgons rise out of the rock walls. And soft corals bloom in all colours. Swarms and large fish are just as present as the usual inhabitants of the coral reefs. We spend the lunch breaks at comfortable beaches with Siesta or island explorations. Or at nearby destinations in the hotel complex. This trip can be booked with three days inAmbon. Ambon is mainly for so-called “Muck Diver”. Divers who are looking for rare animals and want dark gravel or sandy bottoms with few corals. For this they are rewarded with bizarre inhabitants of the sea who are otherwise only seen every jubilant year, if at all.
